Today, the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents will consider authorizing the university treasurer to file grant applications with the Federal Transit Administration or Missouri Department of Transportation.

The meeting is set for 8 a.m. today in the Board of Regents Room in Academic Hall. The board will begin with a closed executive session and is expected to begin the open session at 10 a.m.

If approved, the motion would update a resolution designating university treasurer Kathy Mangels as the Southeast representative who can sign grant agreements with MoDOT or the Federal Transit Authority when Southeast receives funding from them, according to the university.

In years past, Southeast received funding from MODOT to help offset the cost of running the campus shuttle system. The university's participation in the Southeast Metropolitan Planning Organization, a board responsible for planning and seeking transportation services and infrastructure funds in Cape Girardeau County, gives it access to potential federal funding.

The board also plans to talk about online courses.

Today's meeting agenda may be viewed at semo.edu/board/meeting_info.html.
