Red House recognition

The third annual Red House Awards Party, held recently at the Red House Interpretive Center, recognized members of the organization and community who were instrumental in promoting activities and fund raising. Pictured from left were Brenda Schloss, Jerry Cummins, Ron Allen, Jane Jackson, Ron Beasley, Ken Moxey; seated, Deb Baughn, Linda Royce and Iris Likens. The entire docent staff received thanks for their time and effort welcoming visitors. Special recognition went to Royce for 219 hours of volunteer work. The group also celebrated the unveiling of a new permanent plaque honoring the Cape Girardeau Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission and the Order of the Red Hats. The plaque names 65 Red Hat volunteers who built the Red House Interpretive Center and Museum. Friends of the Red House, who made cash donations to the Red House Foundation, are on a list of honor located in the Girardeau Room at the Red House. Volunteers helping with the Red House fund-raiser party and downtown golf tournament were thanked. Also recognized were the Southeast Missourian, Cash-Book Journal, KRCU Radio, Rose Hill Garden Club and the Cape Girardeau Public Library. (Submitted photo)
