Red House announces April events

The following events will take place in April at the Red House Interpretive Center in Cape Girardeau:

* 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday: Sons of the American Revolution will be available to discuss history on the porch.

* 7 p.m. Tuesday: In conjunction with the Cape Girardeau Public Library, the center will present the bicentennial book discussion of "Sign-Talker," a novel about the life of George Drouillard. Drouillard is a former citizen of Cape Girardeau and nephew of Cape's founder, Louis Lorimier. He was also a member of the Lewis & Clark expedition. Author James Alexander Thom and his wife, Dark Rain, will be in Cape Girardeau to attend the discussion and autograph books. The event is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, the center, and the Southeast Missouri State University Center for Regional History.

* 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 8: Sewing Basket/River Heritage Quilt Guild on the Porch.

* 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15: Arts and Crafts on the Porch. Artists Anita Dickerson, Vicky Outman and Priscilla Kasten will be painting landscapes and drawing caricatures.

* 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22: At Friends of the Park Day, the Koehler's will present "Medicinal and Culinary Herbs," and the Rose Hill Garden Club will work in the Red House Garden.

* 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29: At Spring Frolic, children are invited to experience historical fun with music and Indian stories all day at the center. At 10 a.m., the Red House Kids Club will learn about Lewis & Clark.
