Hosts of 2005 Days of Caring need volunteers
Hosts of the 2005 Days of Caring, The United Way of Southeast Missouri and the Vounteer Intergenerational Center (VIC), are again promoting volunteers and volunteer opportunities within the business community. The Days of Caring project takes place from Monday, Sept. 19 to Friday, Sept. 23. Projects need to be submitted by Aug. 19. Volunteers and volunteer groups need to sign up by Sept. 9.
At this time volunteer projects are being sought from local non-profit agencies and organizations, providing an opportunity for them to work on special projects with the help of additional volunteers. Projects may include painting, after-school tutoring, computer projects, client picnics or outings, organizing food pantries, cleaning, serving or delivering meals to seniors.
After projects are determined the business community is encouraged to promote the opportunities to their employees (groups welcome) and if possible, allow time during the work day to complete the projects.
Volunteering through Days of Caring can provide a positive corporate image to the community and be a good team building project.
Volunteer participants or agencies interested in providing a volunteer opportunity should contact VIC at 335-7555 or the United Way of Southeast Missouri at 334-9634.
