Cape Girardeau saw record highs over the Memorial Day weekend.

The high Monday was 96 degrees, breaking the previous record of 92 degrees set in 1978. On Sunday, the high was 95 and broke the previous record of 92 degrees in 1972. Temperatures on Saturday reached 96 degrees and broke the record of 94 degrees set in 1978.

Temperatures are expected to fall this week as a cold front moves through the area. The front will produce below-normal temperatures Thursday and Friday.
