The Rev. Dr. Thomas N. Bass, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Perryville, Mo., and the Brazeau Presbyterian Church in Brazeau, Mo., will retire from active ministry.
A special reception is planned Sunday at the Perryville Community Center in Perryville. The event begins at 2 p.m., with testimonials and music. A reception will be from 2:30-5 p.m. The public is invited.
Bass began serving the churches in 1995. He also served churches in Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Parma and Clarkton previously.
He and his wife, Mary Lou, will reside in Cape Girardeau, where she is a school counselor.
Labyrinth to be available for public
First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau will offer a labyrinth for the public to walk Friday through Sunday. The labyrinth will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
The canvas labyrinth will be set up inside the sanctuary and there will be places for people to sit and meditate or write in a journal. There is no charge to the public for the event.
