LYNYRD SKYNYRD
BAD COMPANY
Music-lovers have a choice between country and classic rock 'n' roll this weekend in two concerts at the Show Me Center.
Leading off will be one of the most popular female singers in country music history, Reba McEntire. She will perform in an 8 p.m. concert Saturday.
McEntire has record 21 albums, the most recent "For My Broken Heart," "It's Your Call" and her "Greatest Hits Volume Two."
Accompanying her will be John Michael Montgomery and Brother Phelps, the latter composed of former Kentucky Headhunters Ricky Lee and Doug Phelps.
On Sunday, venerable Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will take the stage in a 7:30 p.m. concert.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is known for such 1970s hits as "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," "Curtis Sloan" and "Things Goin' On."
The band broke up in 1977 when members Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines were killed in a plane crash, but reunited in a 1987 benefit concert. They have been touring and recording ever since.
Their latest album is called "The Last Rebel."
Also performing Sunday night will be the 1970s supergroup Bad Company.
Also playing will be Brother Cane, a Birmingham, Ala., band climbing the charts with its first single, "Got No Shame."
Tickets are $18.50 in advance or $20 the day of the show.
