The Jackson Public Library annually conducts a summer reading program for the city's children.
In the program, children are given prize incentives to read books. The prizes are awarded based on the number of books read.
The top prizes include bicycles. Jackson librarian Sally Pierce said the two Optimist Clubs -- the Jackson Noon Optimist and Jackson Evening Optimist -- help with the prizes for the summer reading program
The library does not have a storytime for children during the year.
