The 1995 summer reading program "Rock Your World -- Read!" held at the Jackson Public Library, ended Aug. 5. Three hundred children, preschool through sixth grade, read 7,362 books over a nine week period. The program encouraged children to develop good reading habits by visiting the library and discovering the world around them. ...

The 1995 summer reading program "Rock Your World -- Read!" held at the Jackson Public Library, ended Aug. 5. Three hundred children, preschool through sixth grade, read 7,362 books over a nine week period. The program encouraged children to develop good reading habits by visiting the library and discovering the world around them. Every child who completed to reading program received a "Rock Your World -- Read!" sticker, a bottle of bubbles, clacker or a squeezable Earth Ball, depending on age of the child.

Each child also received a certificate signed by Gov. Mel Carnahan, a coupon for a free frozen yogurt cone and a Happy Meal From McDonalds. The children were also given a free paperback book of their choice from an approved selection of titles. These children were also eligible to participate in our drawing for free prizes held on Aug. 9.
