NEW YORK -- Has dating Pamela Anderson tamed Kid Rock?
The outlandish rap-rocker recently admitted that he's stopped wearing his trademark fur coats in deference to his new sweetheart, a spokeswoman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA. Instead, he's been sporting faux fur.
"I've been respectful of the PETA thing. I know she's been involved in that and it means a lot to her," he said. "I still eat meat and all that though. That's who I am as a person."
Seagal guilty of slander, jurors decide after trial
LOS ANGELES -- Jurors found "Hard to Kill" star Steven Seagal slandered a coworker but ruled he doesn't owe her any damages.
Patricia Nichols filed the lawsuit last year, saying she worked with Seagal on a failed 1999 music recording project.
She claimed the 50-year-old actor "directed inappropriate comments and actions toward her," falsely accused her of embezzling from the production company and said she was "unfit as an employee."
Nichols wept after the verdict was read Friday, then vowed to appeal.
"The only way to punish him is through money," she said.
Seagal's attorney, Christopher Rudd, said the ruling was a vindication.
Jurors "found he said some bad words but that he shouldn't have to write a check to a plaintiff who was trying to shake him down," Rudd said.
Divorced-twice comic serious about lovelife
LOS ANGELES -- Jim Carrey is known for goofing around, but he's serious about wanting to fall in love someday for good.
The 39-year-old actor has been divorced twice -- one of his ex-wives is actress Lauren Holly -- and he had a serious relationship with his "Me, Myself & Irene" co-star Renee Zellweger. The two broke up a year ago.
"Love has brought me to my knees so many times," Carrey said. "It's a puzzlement to me. It's something that I just value so much and yet I haven't caught it. I haven't been able to hold onto it. And I will."
Carrey said his movie "The Majestic," which opened Friday, speaks to where he is in his life. He stars as a blacklisted Hollywood writer who loses his memory and is accepted as a favorite lost son in a small town.
"This one was very much about manhood, and at this point I'm faced with getting older, and what's your legacy gonna be? What are people gonna say about you?" he asked.
Tim Allen calls 'Joe' role close to real life
LOS ANGELES -- Playing the divorced father of a 12-year-old girl in the workplace revenge comedy "Joe Somebody" hit close to home for Tim Allen.
The former star of the ABC sitcom "Home Improvement" is in a similar situation with his own 12-year-old daughter. He and his wife split up in November 1999 after 15 years of marriage.
"This script was so close. My daughter came up, and it did not go unnoticed," Allen said. "I said it was certainly not the same situation, and my daughter and I have a very different relationship, but the parallels did not go unnoticed on a deep level."
