Trick-or-treaters could be in for a rainy Halloween night.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., an inch of rainfall is expected from the storms hitting the area Thursday. While the weather service is hopeful the storm will leave the area by 6 p.m., the forecast is always subject to change.
"You never can tell with a storm," said Rachel Trevino, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "We forecast that the rain will leave the area by 6 p.m., but it might be 7 p.m. You never know for sure. People going out will have to use their best judgment."
Perryville, Mo., is postponing Halloween trick-or-treating until Friday, but Cape Girardeau will not be moving festivities to a later date, according to Nicolette Brennan, the city's public information officer. In Cape Girardeau, individuals are asked to use their discretion about holiday activities.
In Marble Hill, Halloween hasn't been postponed, but a 9:30 p.m. curfew remains in place. The Scott County towns of Oran, Morley and Delta have postponed trick-or-treating until Friday, while Benton and Chaffee were still scheduled for Thursday.
If trick-or-treating is dampened by rainfall, there are places in Cape Girardeau offering indoor Halloween activities.
