The floodgate at Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau and the adjacent parking lot will be closed to public access so BNSF Railroad can make last-minute repairs to the track that runs near the Mississippi River floodwall.
The construction was not planned and will affect the flow of traffic for visitors wishing to tour the USS LST 325, a World War II-era landing craft that participated in the D-Day offensive. The historic vessel will be docked downtown until Monday, officials with the Old Town Cape organization said.
Access to the vessel will be available from the Themis Street floodgate, officials said.
According to Old Town Cape, the repairs will be made Monday and Tuesday and could not be rescheduled for a later date.
