PADUCAH, Ky. The Kentucky Harness Racing Commission has given approval for quarter horse and Arabian horse racing at Bluegrass Downs here in 1992.
"The live meet racing is scheduled for April 22 through May 30," said general manager Harold Weaver. "Races will be conducted Wednesday through Sunday each week."
The 30-day meet is an increase of 21 days over the 1991 meet that starts Oct. 11, and operates three days a week through Oct. 27.
Weaver, who became manager of Bluegrass Downs in May of 1990, said the track was in good financial condition. He said the track showed a profit the final six months of 1990, after losing money the first six months.
A Festival of the Horse celebration will be held at Paducah Oct. 5, with an exhibit of breeds in a parade of horses in downtown Paducah at 10 a.m. Following the parade, a horse show will be held.
