Quake awareness event slated for Feb. 16

The American Red Cross is hosting an Earthquake awareness event at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 at West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau. The Red Cross is partnering with federal, state and local agencies to provide information about earthquake preparation, safety and survival. The event will have interactive displays, question and answer sessions and more. Southeast Missouri sits on the New Madrid Seismic Zone, one of the most active earthquake regions in the country.
