PULASKI, Ill. -- Two demolition derbies will be held here this week.

The two derbies highlight grandstand events at the 40th annual Pulaski County Fair, which starts here Monday.

Demolition derby action starts Monday, featuring drivers from Alexander and Pulaski counties only. The "Open" demolition derby, open to anyone, will be held Wednesday night.

The derbies, tractor pulls, a horse show and mud races will fill the six-night schedule.

The International Tractor Pull Association's sanctioned pull is the big event Aug. 17, featuring a half-dozen classes filled with stock and "souped-up" machines. A garden tractor pull is scheduled the same evening.

Rodeo events will be held Aug. 19, a Western Horse Show, Aug. 20, and the mud race, Aug. 21.

Tractor pulls, demolition derbies, rodeo action, 4-x-4 mud races and midway rides all go together to create excitement at the annual county fair.

The event at Pulaski, along U.S. Highway 51 halfway between Cairo and Anna, kicks off Sunday evening, with gospel singing and community worship services. Gospel music starts at 5.
