NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Law enforcement officers are trying to locate a man wanted in connection with a theft from a New Madrid County business.
A warrant was issued for Curtis Jerome "CJ" Burleson Jr. on felony charges of receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from an incident that began at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when a New Madrid County deputy observed a vehicle near the intersection of routes BB and P in rural New Madrid County and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens asks that anyone with information about Burleson's whereabouts contact the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department at 573-748-2516.
"Burleson may be armed," Stevens said. "If you see him, do not approach him on your own. Please contact law enforcement."
