CAPE GIRARDEAU - Southeast Missouri State University's School of Graduate Studies will host a conference on "Ethics and Public Service" on Friday at the University Center.
A hospitality session will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the University Center Party Room.
Dr. Stuart C. Gilman of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics in Washington D.C. will present the keynote address, "Doing Ethics in Public Service: Practical, Programmatic and Philosophical Issues" at 9 a.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
Simultaneous panels will be held at 10 a.m.
In the Missouriana Room, Gilman and Dr. Peter Bergerson, Southeast professor of political science, will present "Professional Governance and Ethical Standards." In the Indian Room, Vince Lacey of the Southern Illinois University Department of Political Science and Dr. David Naugler, Southeast associate professor of computer science, will present "Computers, Privacy and Government."
At 11 a.m., a representative from the Missouri Department of Economic Development will speak on Ethics in Health Care Professions" in the Missouriana Room. Also at 11, Brian Donovan, Charleston city manager, will present "Ethics and Personnel Management: The Practitioner Perspective" in the Indian Room.
A dutch treat luncheon will be served at noon in a private dining room.
