The Cape Girardeau Public Library now has a word processor available for public use.

The IBM-compatible computer is loaded with Wordperfect 5.1 and Microsoft Windows word processing programs. Instruction manuals for these programs are available at the reference desk.

Users may sign up for one-half hour periods by calling the reference department at 334-5279.

Since files will be deleted from the hard disk, patrons are instructed to bring a 5 1/4-inch diskette with them. Diskettes will be available for $2 from the circulation desk.

Laser printouts of files are available at a charge of 25 cents per page. Unless competency in the use of word processors is demonstrated, the computer will not be available to anyone under age 12 without adult supervision.
