The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Feb. 3 to discuss converting the Fruitland rest areas to commercial vehicle parking. The meeting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau. The meeting will have an open-house format, so visitors can stop by to talk one-on-one with a member of the project team. No formal presentation will be given. The project involves demolition of each rest area facility and construction of commercial vehicle parking, including a vault-type rest room.
