An open discussion will be held in the Cape Girardeau City Council chambers from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at city hall, 401 Independence St.

The discussion will center on several sections of the development code, including signs, landscaping, fences, billboards and retaining walls.

Information regarding future federal regulations will also be presented along with an analysis of how these regulations will affect future development in Cape Girardeau, according to a news release issued by the city.

In addition, the forum will offer information on how "green" development can cost less than traditional forms, the release said.

Participants include city council members, Planning and Zoning commissioners and city staff. The city staff is particularly interested in hearing from property owners, developers, engineers, industry representatives and residents, who are invited to come to present their views and learn more about proposed regulations.
