Cheryl Merkler has been promoted to the position of operations director at Craftsman Office Supply Co.
Merkler, a longtime employee of Craftsman, has 20 years experience in bookkeeping, personnel management and computer operations.
She is a member of Excelsior Optimist Club, Alma Schrader and Central High School PTAs, and Lynnwood Baptist Church.
Merkler and her husband, Frank Merkler, live in Cape Girardeau. They area parents of three children: Jason, Cathy and Francis.
Craftsman, 835 Broadway, specializes in commercial office furniture and supplies.

Penny Hawkins, a former Cape Girardeau resident, has been named president of the Evergreen Branch of Colorado National Bank in Evergreen, Colo.
Hawkins is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Oliver, and is a sister of John L. Oliver Jr., a Cape Girardeau attorney.
She has been with Colorado National Bank since 1984 as a commercial loan officer and marketing specialist. Most recently she has been a vice president and senior lender.
Hawkins is a graduate of Sweet Brian College in Virginia, and she has two children: Miles Buckingham, a freshman at Bates College in Maine, and Liz Buckingham, a junior in high school.
