The Excelsior Optimist Club in Cape Girardeau is sponsoring a Project CHARLIE educator training course from 6-10 p.m. Thursday at La Croix United Methodist Church.
Anyone 18 years or older is eligible for the course to help teach drug prevention to students in the second and fourth grades. The courses require a half-hour commitment each week from volunteers.
Project CHARLIE is an acronym for Chemical Abuse Resolution Lies in Education.
The first session of lessons begins Sept. 17 and ends in mid-December. A second session will begin in mid-January and end in May.
