TAMMS, Ill. Larry Naeger, principal at Egyptian Elementary School, has been named an associate of the Illinois Administrators' Academy.
Naeger has held teaching and administrative positions for 18 years. He was honored by the Illinois Superintendent of Education, Robert Leininger.
The title associate is awarded to local school principals, district superintendents and other school administrators who have voluntarily completed an in-depth study of one of the dimensions of instructional leadership, such as staff evaluation, staff development, communication, or school public relations.
The study includes participation in a series of workshops, round table discussions, as well as opportunities for the individuals to use what they have learned in the school setting.
Through additional study and work, associates can achieve two higher levels of designation: member and master.
Naeger has focused his efforts on "School Improvement Through Effective Teacher Evaluation."
He said, "Individuals should take the knowledge available about education and use it to enhance the quality of their life and the quality of their profession."
Naeger attended Southeast Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. he holds a bachelor of arts in secondary education and a master of arts in elementary education. He is affiliated with the Illinois Principal's Association.
The Illinois Administrators' Academy was established in 1985 to provide school administrators with professional development opportunities for instructional leadership training.
