There will be primaries for at least three offices in Perry County, where challengers filed to take on incumbents for presiding commissioner, county treasurer and associate circuit judge. Incumbent Presiding Commissioner Carl Lueckel Jr. will be challenged by Richard A. Schemel of Perryville, while incumbent County Treasurer Veronica Hershey will face Brian Brickhaus and Associate Circuit Judge Michael J. Buellerdieck will be challenged by attorney Jason Tilley. All are Republicans...

There will be primaries for at least three offices in Perry County, where challengers filed to take on incumbents for presiding commissioner, county treasurer and associate circuit judge.

Incumbent Presiding Commissioner Carl Lueckel Jr. will be challenged by Richard A. Schemel of Perryville, while incumbent County Treasurer Veronica Hershey will face Brian Brickhaus and Associate Circuit Judge Michael J. Buellerdieck will be challenged by attorney Jason Tilley. All are Republicans.

Along with the contested races, incumbent County Clerk Randy Taylor, Circuit Clerk Becky Paulus, Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Hoeh, Recorder of Deeds Susan Oster and County Collector Rodney Richardet all filed for new terms. All are Republicans.

In Scott County, where Democrats dominate county government, only incumbents filed for re-election by 11:30 a.m. Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger, County Clerk Rita Milam, Circuit Clerk Christy Hency, Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd, Recorder of Deeds Tom Dirnberger, Collector Mark Hensley, Treasurer Glenda Enderle, Associate Circuit Judge Scott Horman and Associate Circuit Judge W.H. Winchester III all filed for new terms.

Filing for state and county offices on the Nov. 2 ballot opened today and will conclude at 5 p.m. on March 30. Candidates must file for county offices at the county clerk's office in each county. Filing for state offices takes place at the Missouri Secretary of State's office in Jefferson City.
