Southeast Missouri State University has announced several students have been awarded President's Scholarships for the 1997-98 academic year.
The President's Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who score 24 on the Enhanced ACT or 1110 on the SAT. Recipients must also rank in the upper 20 percent of their high school class or achieve a high school grade-point average of 3.5. The scholarship is also awarded to students who are their class valedictorians and score 21 on the Enhanced ACT or 990 on the SAT, and to National Merit Commended Scholars. The Scholarship is worth $1,500 per academic year.

Amber M. Faircloth of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Notre Dame High School and daughter of Kelly Faircloth of Cape Girardeau and David Faircloth of Desloge.
Malinda K. Dumey of Oran, a senior at Notre Dame High School and daughter of Danny and Brenda Dumey of Oran. She also received the Freshman Achievement Award, which is a one-year award of $500 designed for Missouri students who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship and involvement. Students receiving this award must have achieved a 3.0 grade-point average.
Aaron V. Rigg of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and son of Margaret Rigg of Cape Girardeau.
Deborah S. Wortmann of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and daughter of Bruce and Jackie Wortmann of Jackson.
Timothy W. Sadler of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and son of Albert and Cindy Sadler of Cape Girardeau.
James C. Reedy of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and son of Retta Miller and Jerry Reedy of Jackson.
Christopher E. Leimer of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and son of Linda Leimer of Jackson.
Jeffrey L. Crader of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Notre Dame High School and son of Debbie Crader and Robert Crader Jr. of Cape Girardeau.
Jeremiah H. Cook of Whitewater, a senior at Delta High School and son of Keith and Teresa Cook of Whitewater.
Adam V. Glueck of Benton, a senior at Thomas W. Kelly High School and son of Vince and Cindy Glueck of Benton.
Jennifer M. Miller of Scott City, a senior at Scott City High School and daughter of Michael and Debbera Miller of Scott City.
Nicholas J. Watts of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Notre Dame High School and son of Jack and Barbara Watts of Cape Girardeau.
Marcus W. Stephens of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and son of Roger Stephens and Donna Stephens of Jackson.
Sarah E. Riehn of Oak Ridge, a senior at Oak Ridge High School and daughter of Stan and Ginger Riehn of Oak Ridge.
Gretchen L. Spitzmiller of Gordonville, a senior at Jackson High School and daughter of Tom and Patty Spitzmiller of Gordonville.
Dana Wren of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and daughter of Gary and Carla Wren of Cape Girardeau. She also was given the Missouri Leadership Award, which is a one-year award of $500 designed for Missouri students who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship and involvement.
Mandy L. Deimund of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and daughter of Rodger and Linda Deimund of Cape Girardeau.
Lesley A. Goehring of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and daughter of David and Joan Goehring of Cape Girardeau. She also received the Girls' State Leadership Award, which is a $300 one-time award given to beginning freshmen who have attended Girls' State.
Nathan A. Tuschhoff of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and son of Terry and Cheryl Tuschhoff of Jackson. He also received the Boys' State Leadership Award.
JoEtta Snell of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Jackson High School and daughter of Jan Hobbs Snell and William Snell of Cape Girardeau. She also received the Girls' State Leadership Award.
Jocelyn R. Caron of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and daughter of Helen Rohrich of Cape Girardeau and David Caron of Conyers, Ga.
Christy D. Schmitt of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Central High School and daughter of Dennis and Donna Schmitt of Cape Girardeau.
Alisha A. Liley of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and daughter of Carol Keen and Mike and Laura Liley of Jackson.
Thomas H. Walter of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School and son of Donald and Maryellen Walter of Jackson. He also received the Missouri Leadership Award.
