A program ranging from straight classical pieces to lighthearted renditions of "Sweet Georgia Brown" and "Melodies of Cole Porter" will be presented Monday by the Saint Louis Brass Quintet.
Composed of two trumpets, a French horn, a trombone and a tuba, the 25-year-old quintet is known for its humor and musicality.
Also on the song list is Anthony Plog's "Sketches for Brass Quintet" and "Songs" by Manuel DiFalla.
The personnel includes trombonist Melvyn Jernigan, who also plays with the Saint Louis Symphony, trumpet soloists Allan Dean and Ray Sasaki, French hornist Larry Strieby and Daniel Perantoni on tuba.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Old St. Vincent's Church. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and children and free with a university I.D.
