ANNA, Ill. -- Paul G. Prendergast, 24, of Anna, has been named assistant state's attorney in Union County.
Prendergast, a 1988 graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Law School, succeeds Patrick S. Duffy of Cobden, who was elected Pulaski County state's attorney in November.
Prendergast has been an assistant state's attorney in Jackson County since 1991, and a staff attorney with the Drug Prosecution Unit of the state's Attorney Appellate Prosecutor's office.
He will assume his new duties Monday.
"Pat Duffy was an excellent assistant and we hated to lose him," said Union County State's Attorney Wes Wilkins. "But we feel most fortunate to get someone with Prendergast's experience and abilities. He'll do an excellent job for the people of Union County."
