Preliminary hearing set for woman accused of killing child

MALDEN, Mo. -- A preliminary hearing is set next month for a Malden woman accused in the death of her 5-year-old child.

Tina Diann Burton appeared Tuesday in Division II of Dunklin County Circuit Court, said Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff McCormick. Judge John Spielman set the preliminary hearing for 11 a.m. Feb. 27.

Burton is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree involuntary manslaughter, abuse or neglect of a child younger than 14 and sexual abuse/exploitation. She was arrested in November. It is alleged that Burton shook the child, who subsequently died.
