Practicing a New Zealand art form near the Mississippi

Joseph Campbell, left, and Joseph Sullivan, right, practice poi near the floodgate at the end of Broadway in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday. Poi is a performance art that originated in New Zealand and consists of tethered weights being swung in rhythmic patterns. Campbell and Sullivan have practiced for about one year and hope to spread interest in the art form to others in the area.
