A thunderstorm that moved through Cape Girardeau County shortly after 3 p.m. today knocked out power to over 2,600 Ameren Missouri customers in the Cape Girardeau area.

The actual cause was unknown just before 4 p.m., but it appeared to be typical storm-related damages such as trees on power lines, Ameren Missouri spokesman Mike Cleary said. He said crews were still assessing damages.
