Electrical power has been restored to commercial customers in west Cape Girardeau after a Wednesday accident involving a dumptruck.

According to Kent Martin, a spokesman for Ameren Missouri, power was restored about 5:15 p.m. The outage occurred about noon when a dumptruck was traveling on Shirley Drive with its bed raised. The raised bed made contact with a power line that hung over the road and pulled it down, resulting in a power outage for 33 Ameren Missouri commercial customers, including Wal-Mart. No residential Ameren Missouri customers were affected, Martin said.
