A transformer problem caused several buildings on the Southeast Missouri State University campus to go dark Wednesday, causing the university to call off some classes.

Power was restored by midafternoon Wednesday, and normal operations were expected to resume today. Brandt Hall of Music was the final building to have power restored. A news release from the university's news bureau said Wednesday's outage was caused by an issue with a transformer that disrupted service to several, but not all, campus buildings.

The university's facilities management and an electrical contractor installed a temporary transformer to supply power to the buildings.
