OLEAN, N.Y. -- The U.S. Postal Service apologized to residents along a mail route who received mail stained with blood. A Postal Service spokeswoman for the agency's western New York district said the blood was from a mail carrier whose finger was cut after a vehicle accident Tuesday. The worker cut his finger when he tried to adjust a damaged side mirror.
