FENTON, Mo. -- St. Louis County is in discussions with a consortium of business developers interested in the former Chrysler plant in Fenton.
St. Louis County Economic Council CEO Denny Coleman said Wednesday that the potential buyers have submitted an offer to buy the sprawling property along Interstate 44. He made the comments during the council's annual meeting, which included about 850 business and civic leaders.
The 290-acre site has been vacant since Chrysler shut it down last fall. The plant made Dodge Ram pickups and Chrysler minivans.
The group would use the plant to develop an alternative and renewable energy business park. It isn't known how many jobs would be created.
