POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A 79-year-old woman died Saturday when the car she was ridding in struck another vehicle head-on, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

F. Jean Faughn-Jones was riding with 76-year-old Arthur Jones at 11:30 a.m. on Highway 60 about 15 miles west of Poplar Bluff when the accident occurred. Their vehicle was westbound when it drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle driven by Mary Bartlett, 60, of Marquand, Mo.

Faughn-Jones, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was airlifted to Three Rivers Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, where she later died.

Jones was airlifted in serious condition to St. Francis Medical Center.

Bartlett received serious injuries, while her passenger, 14-year-old Jason Bartlett, received minor injuries. Both were taken to Three Rivers Healthcare.
