POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A pursuit by the Missouri State Highway Patrol led to the capture of a man wanted in connection with a home invasion and shooting.

Highway patrol troopers spotted a vehicle being driven by Rodney Joe Green, 40, of Poplar Bluff, at 12:08 a.m. Sunday on Route AA, three miles east of Poplar Bluff. Green was wanted on two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.

Two patrol units were in pursuit of Green's southbound vehicle, which ran off the roadway and struck a culvert, a tree and a utility pole. According to the patrol's report, the vehicle then overturned, coming to rest on its side.

Green was taken into custody and taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.

The search for Green began early Friday morning following a home invasion in which a Rombauer, Mo., husband and wife were shot with what is believed to be an SKS rifle. The couple was taken to a hospital for wounds to the leg and hand, respectively. Information on their condition was not available Monday.
