The Cape Girardeau Police Department is looking for a woman who disappeared Saturday from Maple Crest Manor. Laurie J. Rose, 47, has walked away from the Maple Crest Manor before, according to department spokesman Sgt. Barry Hovis, "but she's always returned." She is recovering from a brain injury, he said. A bulletin issued by the department just before 1 p.m. Sunday said "Ms. Rose may exhibit signs of confusion and also uses a walker to help steady her while moving around." Rose was last seen around 1 p.m. at the assisted living facility, Hovis said. Shortly after that, a concerned caller to the police station described a woman fitting her description as being at Broadway and Kingshighway, asking for a ride to Interstate 55. "I know that we did go out and search the immediate areas, the wooded area and the walking trail," he said. A family member asked police to make the case public in order to expand the search, Hovis said. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 335-6621. pmcnichol@semissouran.com 388-3646
