The owner of The Venue and Cape Girardeau police are taking extra precautions for the Young Dolph concert Saturday night.

Bob Warner said he hired a security team from St. Louis; there will be a metal detector at the entrance; multiple security members will have metal detecting wands; bags will not be allowed; and there will be undercover security in the crowd to deter violent activity.

"I have taken measures myself to provide protection," Warner said. "The most important thing is to focus on the artists themselves ... whether it be an artist or a bride, it's important for the focus to be on them. It's too bad that a few bad people ruin it for everybody."

Lt. Brad Smith said police will have extra patrols around 80 Plaza Way when Young Dolph, of Memphis, Tennessee, performs between 7 p.m. and 1:30 a.m.

At a previous Young Dolph concert in Charlotte, North Carolina, about 50 shots were fired into Young Dolph's tour bus, hotel lobby and into another vehicle. Three men were arrested in connection with the incident. Two people were shot at a Rich Homie Quan rap concert in January of 2014 at the Arena Building in Cape Girardeau.
