SIKESTON, Mo. -- Police say several burglaries are solved with the arrest of a Sikeston man.

Deshante R. Nabors, 18, who was being held in the Scott County Jail on Tuesday morning with a cash-only bond set at $100,000, was arrested by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety following an investigation into a May armed robbery.

According to a Monday news release from the department, an employee of a local contractor was robbed at gunpoint in May while working on a home at 1204 Ruth St. The offender approached the victim in front of the home, displayed a handgun and demanded cash.

"The victim, startled by the handgun, quickly took it from the attacker by twisting it from his hands," said Sgt. Jim McMillen, public information officer for the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

After the victim contacted police, it was determined the handgun taken from the assailant was stolen in a burglary. McMillen said the victim was later able to identify the suspect from a photo lineup which led to Nabors being arrested.

"Once arrested, investigators began questioning Nabors on several burglaries starting with the one involving the stolen handgun used in the robbery," McMillen said.

Detectives were able to clear the robbery and nine burglaries following their investigation.

Also, two laptop computers and several firearms were recovered and returned to the victims, officials said.

A disposition hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 23 before Presiding 33rd Circuit Court Judge David A. Dolan at the Scott County Courthouse in Benton, Mo.
