Police are seeking a suspect in a Wednesday evening robbery in Cape Girardeau.
About 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, a victim reported being at home in the 600 block of North Street about 5:30 a.m. when a subject came to the door asking to speak to someone, Cape Girardeau Police Department public information officer Cpl. Darin Hickey said in an email. The victim told the person no one by that name lived there.
About 20 minutes later, the victim walked outside with a dog. The person who had knocked on the door was outside and allegedly approached and punched the victim in the face and took a cellphone and ball cap, then fled from the scene, Hickey said.
