Police are looking for an unknown suspect who robbed a woman in broad daylight Tuesday in Cape Girardeau.
About noon, a woman called police to report she had just been robbed near Aspen and Mimosa drives, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
The woman said a man approached her, demanded property and struck her in the face with what she believed could have been a handgun, Hickey said.
The suspect took personal items from the woman and fled south on foot, Hickey said, and the woman was treated at a hospital for a laceration to her face.
Hickey said the woman was standing outside a vehicle when the man approached her.
The case remains under investigation, Hickey said.
"Our primary concern is to get her medical treatment," he said. "We'll be following up with her and continuing the investigation."
Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect should call the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 335-6621, Hickey said.
