The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department is seeking information leading to the arrest of a man wanted on several charges.
Daren Collier, 45, of Jackson faces charges of first-degree domestic assault, felonious restraint and armed criminal action in connection with a May incident.
A probable-cause statement written deputy Andrew Siebert alleges Collier held a woman at gunpoint and forced her to stay at his house.
The victim, Collier's girlfriend, told Siebert when she got off work as a bartender the night of May 24, she went to Collier's house. The victim said Collier was angry she had gotten home so late.
She tried leaving, but Collier pulled the key from the ignition of her car, bending it, Siebert wrote.
The victim said Collier then began firing a handgun at her. Her car showed six holes, consistent with bullet holes, Siebert wrote. At that point, the victim said, Collier held her at gunpoint, forcing her to stay the night at his house, the statement said.
She told Siebert she got away the next morning by trying to "play real nice to Collier to get him to trust her enough to leave the house and get a soda," at which point she escaped and contacted the sheriff's office.
A warrant has been issued for Collier's arrest. Judge Gary Kamp set Collier's bond at $10,000 cash only, with the conditions he is to have no contact with the victim or come with in 500 feet of her home or place of employment.
The sheriff's department is asking anyone with information about Collier to call (573) 243-3551 or their local law-enforcement agency.
Collier should be considered potentially armed and dangerous and should not be approached, the department said on its Facebook page.
