The Cape Girardeau County Enforcers will battle the Springfield Guns in a tackle football game Saturday at Houck Stadium.

The game, the fourth time the two groups of law enforcement officers have faced one another, begins at 3 p.m., according to Cape Girardeau County Sgt. Shawn Adams.

Proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit the local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter, Adams said. Children younger than 12 and students with ID will be admitted free.

The Enforcers are made up of more than 30 officers from the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, Cape Girardeau Police Department, Jackson Police Department, Southeast Missouri State University Department of Public Safety and Missouri State Highway Patrol, Adams said.

Practices have been held biweekly and been full contact since the Sunday after the Super Bowl, Adams said. Three players will likely not be available Saturday because of injuries sustained at practices.

The last time the two teams of law enforcement officers faced one another was in 2001, Adams said.

The game is full contact minus the kickoff and punt returns to prevent injuries, Adams said.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau will toss the coin for the game, according to Cape Girardeau police.
