HAYTI, Mo. -- A 21-year-old Hayti man was arrested Friday and jailed at the Pemiscot County Justice Center after he allegedly beat his wife and didn't allow her to leave their home for a week.
On Friday officers with the Hayti Police Department took a statement from a woman who reported she was abused by her husband, according to court documents. The alleged abuse included her husband striking her with a closed fist, beating her with an electric cord and striking her in the mouth with his hand. She also reported that during her confinement he held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the beating.
Reports said there was a 14-month-old child in the home at the time, and the child had reportedly been struck as well.
Hayti Police Officers arrested Arsenio A. Jones on a Pemiscot County warrant for four counts of first-degree domestic assault, three counts of armed criminal action, second-degree domestic assault, child abuse and felonious restraint.
Jones was being held Tuesday morning on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
