After hitting his pregnant girlfriend, a Jackson man punched a responding Jackson police officer, police said.
Jackson police arrested Cedric John Lucious, 27, on Wednesday. The Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney’s office charged Lucious with second-degree domestic assault, assault on a law-enforcement officer and felony resisting arrest.
Jackson officer Austin Reed responded to a report of a domestic assault at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Garrett Lane and learned police Sgt. Jon Jensen was on scene and needed help, according to a probable-cause statement filed by Reed.
Jensen had used his Taser on Lucious and was trying to apprehend Lucious in the basement bathroom of the residence, Reed wrote.
Lucious punched his girlfriend, who eight weeks pregnant with their child, twice in the face, then punched Jensen when he arrived on the scene, according to the statement. Jensen deployed his Taser, and Lucious refused to comply until Reed arrived on the scene. Jensen and Reed then secured Lucious in handcuffs, Reed wrote.
The girlfriend said the disturbance started when Lucious kissed and fondled the girlfriend’s mother without her consent, according to the statement.
