Cape Girardeau police are investigating a theft at the Salvation army that occurred Monday night, said Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the police department.

Suspects gained entry by breaking the front window of the store, at 416 Morgan Oak St.

A large safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash was taken, Hovis said.
