Cape Girardeau police are investigating a burglary at a local bakery.

An employee at Sugar Buzz, 1929 Independence St., called police about 8 a.m. Friday after arriving at the bakery to find a door unsecure, a safe open on a desk and a computer, rolls of change and cash from a tip jar missing, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Hickey said the burglary occurred between 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

Police have not yet identified any suspects in the case, which remains under investigation, Hickey said Monday.
