The Cape Girardeau and Jackson police departments will be accepting unused and expired medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 40 S. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau and 525 S. Hope St. in Jackson. "This is the third year we have conducted this program, and we try to do three to four times a year," said Lt. Rick Price of the Cape Girardeau Police Department. "It's a national effort to stop children and teenagers from obtaining this medication from their parents' and grandparents' medicine cabinets for illegal use or sale to other people."
