Cape Girardeau police confiscated about $184,000 worth of heroin and marijuana Saturday when they arrested a former Cape Girardeau resident.

The arrest was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation that involved four law enforcement agencies, said Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the police department.

Tracy L. Selvy, 37, of Memphis, Tenn., and Vincent A. Davis, 35, of West Memphis, Ark., were both charged with second-degree trafficking and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

The two men were driving from Tennessee when they were stopped by police within Cape Girardeau city limits, Hovis said.

About two and half pounds of a substance containing heroin and around 10 pounds of marijuana were found in their possession, police said.

Selvy's last convictions in Cape Girardeau County involved a 1999 guilty plea for resisting arrest and a 2000 conviction for third-degree assault.

Bond for both men was set at $500,000 cash only.

If convicted, Selvy and Davis could face up to 45 years in prison.

The heroin would likely have fetched close to $168,000 on the street, and the marijuana was worth around $16,000, Hovis said.

Officers from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol participated in the drug investigation.

Police expect to make more arrests in connection with the investigation, Hovis said.
