A man who fled after allegedly robbing a Benton, Mo., convenience store at gunpoint Wednesday night got as far as Perryville, Mo., before authorities caught up with him.
Around 7 p.m., Scott County sheriff's deputies responded to a reported robbery at Express Fuel in Benton, said Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter.
A man had pulled a gun in the store and threatened a clerk, escaping with some cash, Walter said.
Deputies searched the area and alerted the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which, along with Perryville and Perry County officers, pursued the car to mile marker 130 of northbound Interstate 55.
Stop sticks were deployed to deflate a tire on his vehicle. A search of the car, which was impounded, revealed several guns, Walter said. A man and a woman were taken into custody.
No one was injured in either the pursuit or the robbery, Walter said.
